RachaelLou 32 Posted April 4, 2019 Ok, the hiccups started yesterday. Tonight it is getting out of hand. I’m 8 days out from RNY. Does anyone have any suggestions for how I can avoid/deal with this?
gabybab 696 Posted April 4, 2019 I get them after I eat and they are obnoxious. I'm not sure how to get rid of them. Interested to see what people say.

RachaelLou 32 Posted April 4, 2019 So, I guess I need to eat slower or eat less.
James Marusek 5,244 Posted April 4, 2019 After gastric bypass surgery, some people experience dumping syndrome. If you ever experience dumping syndrome it is not something that you wish to experience again. So you learn to avoid it in the future. Sometimes dumping syndrome occurs when one eats too much. You body generally tells you just before you reach that point. It has pre-triggers. These can be hiccups, sneezes, excess mucus, runny nose, an instantaneous change in the taste of food. Many people's pre-triggers are different. In your case, 8 days post-op seems way too soon for this to be the problem. 1 ProudGrammy reacted to this
RachaelLou 32 Posted April 4, 2019 I got them for 30 minutes and they started about 30 minutes after I ate. I have been strict on my diet and am only eating a total of 3/4cup of food per day (3 meals of 1/4cup puréed food). I cannot imagine this causing dumping syndrome
