emmak26 0 Posted April 4, 2019 My surgery was a week ago today. I also found out that it made me lactose intolerant. I am struggling with not having anything but Fairlife Milk and Water all day every day. I know I can have broth and SF popcycles but I have a hard enough time getting in enough milk for my Protein. How have other people combatted this? All I can think about is how good something with flavor would taste!
bariutiful 72 Posted April 4, 2019 Have you tried the Premier Protein shake?
emmak26 0 Posted April 4, 2019 The hospital/program that I am going through does not let you do any sort of Protein Shake 😕 definitely limits my options!
bariutiful 72 Posted April 4, 2019 What surgery did you get? And I wonder why they don’t allow you, this is the first time I hear this.
KCgirl061 1,532 Posted April 4, 2019 I have a coworker that also got lactose intolerant after surgery. She had good luck with Fairlife milk but if you feel you aren't hitting your Protein goals it would be a good idea to get plant based Protein Shakes or yogurts. You could also add the powdered Peanut Butter to your drinks. Good luck! That's rough!

OhMyGracious! 26 Posted April 24, 2019 I just liquified this recipe. I’m on full liquids and don’t want anything else sweet. I am in need of savory and cant stand chicken broth any longer. I left out the bacon, curry and red pepper flakes, and added unflavored Protein Powder. It was an awesome liquid dinner! https://insidebrucrewlife.com/loaded-cauliflower-soup/ 1 1-Chance reacted to this

MrsGamgee 756 Posted May 6, 2019 The hospital/program that I am going through does not let you do any sort of Protein Shake [emoji53] definitely limits my options! Hmmm... my clinic doesn't recommend Protein Shakes for the pre OP liquid diet (they prefer Meal Replacement shakes like Glucerna or optifast), but post they're totally fine with Protein shakes. Have you looked into unflavored Protein Powder to add to Soups, etc?Sent from my SM-G960W using BariatricPal mobile app
mousecat88 2,281 Posted May 8, 2019 Amazon has soy Protein. I can't drink whey shakes. The chocolate soy off Amazon is delicious. Sent from my SM-G930R4 using BariatricPal mobile app

smiling.again.finally 8 Posted September 30, 2019 I am 6 days out and had the same issue. Thankfully the program prepped us that this could be a possiblity and gave us options. Muscle Milk original is lactose free. I hate it but it is better than the stomach cramps while I look at other options. I have been living on that and the Protein2O Water that someone else mentioned. I can get both at my Walmart. I have a message in to the surgeon to see if I can take Lactaid so I have more options. You mught want to give them a call to discuss.Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

I had to leave because I ran out of energy. I was going to try and drink those instead of so much of those awfully sweet Protein Shakes. I am 5 days post op and don't know how many more I can choke down🤢Sent from my SM-G950U using BariatricPal mobile app
