Elizabeth94 8 Posted March 30, 2019 I’m only 5 days post op and after the initial first days I don’t feel gassy/bloated anymore. I’m still bad at drinking my Water and clears. But I’m trying to get better at drinking water. However, I noticed that every morning/evening I been experiencing acid reflux/GERD. The Dr. prescribed omeprazole for the acid reflux 2xday. That’s all the medication I’m taking however, I am wondering will my body adapt and so I no longer experience GERD or I officially have GERD and will have to take medication for it. 😣 1 GreenTealael reacted to this
GreenTealael 25,430 Posted March 30, 2019 (edited) This can only really be diagnosed by your doctor. Its possible that its just the influx of acids temporarily. I used a PPI for 2 months straight then discontinued. Use the meds and if there is no relief let them know ASAP. They may change dose or type. 💜 Congratulations on a safe surgery 💜 Edited March 30, 2019 by GreenTealael 1 DanaC84 reacted to this

Right now, it's too early to know. Your stomach is still very swollen and that allows acid to reflux into the esophagus. This can take several months to resolve before they can determine if you have a real reflux problem. 2 ProudGrammy and DanaC84 reacted to this
GradyCat 3,695 Posted March 30, 2019 My GERD was really bad for the first month post-op but now I don't have it at all at 3 months post-op. I'm cured! 1 DanaC84 reacted to this
