Trouble with soft foods

Recommended Posts

Hi friends! I’m 15 days post op.

I started soft foods Monday. I ate some soft fish on Monday which I shortly after threw up 3 different times. Yesterday, I had a piece of ham wrapped in a piece of cheese and immediately felt nauseous all day long. Tonight I ate the ricotta bake that everyone has been suggesting, and I don’t feel nauseous but I just feel like I’m in pain!! I’m taking things really slow when I eat and I’m trying to be very cautious. I was so excited to be able to eat again and now I just feel defeated because nothing seems to be settling well at all. Is this normal? Will I ever feel normal again?! ):

Yes, you will. I'm 30 days out and had the same trouble as you. I started to feel less pain and nausea just recently. Hang in there it gets better!

Yes, it's normal, it's all an adjustment when you first transition from one phase to the next. It'll happen too when you go to solid foods. Hang in there.

I felt that way if I ate too much too quickly. I would suggest only a tablespoon. then the next time try 2 tablespoons to work up towards a 1/4 cup. at 2-3 weeks I could easily get a 1/4 cup yogurt of cottage cheese in but it took 45 min to get an egg. Now at 5 weeks I can eat an egg in 15 min without issue. That is following the rules of no fluids 15 min before or 30 min after eating.
