I’m down 30lbs in 30 days! Just amazing. Clothes are all to big. Healing was tough I won’t lie I was in agony for a while. Eating is getting better but still struggling. Can’t eat anything more than 3 bites. Have to drink most of my Protein. All I can say is hang in there it does get better and you’ll be so happy you did!

It seems every surgeon is different Mikey. With my surgeon in Perth I was on liquids for about 2 weeks total then purees (barf) before real food. Has your dietician given you any pre-op instructions yet? Or given you any idea of the post op meal plans?

It was tough to really eat much the first 2 weeks. I’ve been sticking to Soups and soft stuff. If I try fish or chicken it really hurts so I guess my stomach is saying it’s just not ready yet. My dr said to listen to my body and it definitely tells me when I messed up. But I’m happy with my results so far and I keep my food options open. I use a recipe app to look for good stuff to make that I can tolerate.

Hey I haven't got to that stage yet I'm still waiting but the dr did say I'll need a pre-op diet of either 3 Protein Shakes a day or 2 shakes and a small cup of vegetables or tuna, all high Protein, low carbs but the dietitian will make the specific directions when the time comes... But I've read tons of information on post op and to do liquid as long as you can for your body to adjust and heal must get protein and Water in every day protein helps heal.

Some people are able to move to solids sooner but personally I plan to stick to liquids and mush for long as I can to train my body to fill up on less food.. I really hope my hunger goes away!!

You’ll barely have an appetite after surgery. A few bites of whatever stage of food is enough sometimes. I can do a half cup of Soup but only a couple bites of a solid food. I’m really only comfortable eating Soups. Anything solid is painful. My dietician wants me eating every 2-3 hours. It’s really hard to eat that often when you have no appetite. Even drinking a shake is to much. It’s definitely a learning process 😆

I can't wait like I only eat because I'm always so hungry so I hope I lose that hunger and if I can live off very little I'll lose weight quickly and save money on food :)

I'm currently stocking up on Protein powders ready for my pre-op diet :)

i can't wait to have a new life!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
