God Bless both of You also! You are one of the reasons I didn't go inactive after surgery, wallow in my misery, and have a group of PLOM days, borrowed that term from Mrs Gamgee, stands for Poor Little Old Me, got to wonder why I have this burden to bear? but you, know what? I have my friends here, I have GOD riding back-up for me, and as His Child there is nothing that can't be handled and I am never forsaken. And that is the Super- Coolest thing of ALL! If I need more surgeries, well No Big Thing, I have made it this far, might as well go for the Gusto of Life!

I brought comfy yoga pants and a front-button flannel top. Hospital gowns weird me out and there’s something about being in my own clothes that made me feel less like a sick person and more empowered.
I also brought my phone charger, chapstick, travel toothbrush and toothpaste and pony-tail holder to keep my hair out of the way.
I never wear make-up unless I’m going to work or going somewhere special, so there was no need for that.
Didn’t bring anything to read because I was getting up every 60 minutes around the clock to drink, pee, walk, drink more then re-hook myself to all of the machinery back in my room.

I'm just a few days post op, myself. I took my phone charger and chapstick. Definitely a toothbrush! I was anxious. Everyone heals differently. Be patient with your body. It may revolt a little!! LOL Good luck, you got this!

I packed pajamas, my phone charger and a stuffed animal. I did bring my pillow but my husband forgot in the car and my mom didn’t think they would let me use my own pillow. 🙄 I really wish I had it.

Another reason to take a stuffed animal besides security measure, if you have to cough,or sneeze when you're freshly done, "splint" your tummy with it and you won't have the sensation you're going to blast and rip open! And you will mentally hug me for the advice!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
