Sleeve vs rny need help

Recommended Posts

I am having my sleeve tomorrow and I been doing a lot of reading and seem to come across a lot of people who had the sleeve done either don’t lose much weight or regain the weight back. I am having doubts now and still I self pay for my surgery I am not sure if I make the right choice. I thought I did at first because it’s was less harmful to me and how the surgery will make me feel fuller if we feel fuller why are we regain.

No matter which surgery you have, there are ways to sabotage yourself. For instance, eating sliders because, face it, we get pleasure from eating and sliders let us eat larger amounts. Many people who've been really successful don't spend a lot of time in the forums. The forums tend to be full of people who've had issues. We love the successful vets who are still around and provide advice and inspiration, but they are few and far between. So, don't think that the forums are necessarily representative of the entire wls community.

Good luck with your surgery and I hope you have a speedy recovery!

Pre surgery jitters can make you question your surgery. It’s normal.

First months is your best weight loss. Your first year is your golden year. don’t waste it! What will make you successful long term is nothing magic. It’s following your plan. weigh and log your food, hydrate and activity/exercise.

Rates of weight loss:

Just because one person did not lose much and another lost above the norm does not mean that is what your outcome will be. Don’t compare your weight loss. It will make you crazy.

Things to learn from the posts about regain.

Weight gain can happen with any type of procedure. “eating around your surgery restriction” You can eat several small meals that total over your weight loss/maintaining calories. (can be combinations of healthy and unhealthy foods) The result is weight gain

Some examples of what can trigger people to eat over their weight loss/maintaining calories

  • Complications
  • Head hunger/real hunger
  • medical issues
  • medications
  • stress/emotions
  • menopause
  • pregnancy
  • eating disorders
  • Being complaisant
  • Thinking restriction alone will take and keep the weight off

Thank you for both of your advice. Yes I think I am over reacting to others when I should focus on myself. It’s took me two month for this surgery to happen from quitting smoking to the liquid diet just seem burn out. I am looking forward to my surgery I think I let my emotions got the best off me. My surgery weight it’s 210 at 5’1
