Jessicajq 2 Posted March 25, 2019 Hi all, I had the gastric sleeve done on 2/19/19. I have been having complications since. I want to know if anyone has had a similar experience. I'm having serious buyers remorse. After my sleeve I had severe nausea and vomiting issues. I informed my surgeon's office and was told to sit up more and move around. I felt initially it was working. A few days after my surgery I got a call that my stomach that was removed tested positive for H. Poly. The doctor ordered a course of strong antibiotics. My nausea skyrocketed. Now just 4 weeks after surgery I have had 2 week long admits with really no resolution. I went through test that say my esophagus lower valve will not squeeze Fluid or food into my stomach. Though the actual stomach is fine. I have an immune disorder called Polymyositis that the doctor believes is the problem but prior to the surgery my esophagus was working fine. I'm not getting any answers on what can be done to promote my esophagus to start working again. My surgeon is suggesting TPN or a feeding tube as I am unable to hold anything down. Neither of which I want. Has anyone had a similar situation? 1 GreenTealael reacted to this
Cheeseburgh 3,080 Posted March 25, 2019 (edited) I had to have an endoscopy to rule out H pylori (sp) prior to surgery. If I had tested positive I would have been required to take antibiotics, have another endoscopy to make sure it cleared up. I’m sorry to hear you are having such a rough time. Were you tested prior to surgery also? Did they do a biopsy of any kind before? Were you just diagnosed after the surgery? I feel terrible for you. Jessicajq 2 Posted March 25, 2019 I was tested before and tested positive. I went through a cycle of antibiotics. There was not a follow up endo and biopsy to confirm it was gone. With everything that is going on I am sure it's still there. Another worry..... 1 1 Cheeseburgh and GreenTealael reacted to this
Cheeseburgh 3,080 Posted March 26, 2019 Does anyone know the standard protocol with H pylori? I remember being worried if I tested positive it might screw up my surgery date. My Dr did tell me some people need 2, sometimes 3 rounds of antibiotics before it clears up. 1 GreenTealael reacted to this
