RNY May 6th! [emoji137]‍♀️I'm starting the pre-op liver shrinking diet the day after Easter so I get a last hurrah with the family before then! I'm really looking forward to the surgery, I feel like I'll finally have a huge part of my life under control.
Hey hope you are doing great since surgery. Good luck with your journey

I had my VSG to RNY revision May 3rd. It wasnt bad. The gas was the most painful part. I am almost a week post op. Trying to get used to the smelly gas and the sharts. A part no one ever mentioned lol.

I've heard that we shouldn't ever trust a fart, post op... but if the level of gas afterward is anything like what I've had through the liquid diet, I'm going to be in the bathroom more than I'm out. lol

I'm having bypass surgery on May 16th. I've been on my pre-op diet since April 1... two phases. For the month of April I had 3 Glucerna shakes a day, one healthy meal of no more than 500 calories, and up to 300 calories of fruits and veg. A week ago I started phase 2, 5 glucerna shakes a day and up to 200 calories of veg (specific ones).

I'm so sick of sweet and looking forward to post op when I'm able to try some savoury foods again.

Hey you guys,
I am absolutely miserable with my reflux getting soooooo much worse than it was before sleeve surgery and apparentlyhappens a lot with the sleeve. I was told that it would totally get rid of the reflux. That only lasted 6 wks and when food actually got added back to my diet it has gotten so bad.
I am in process of getting approved for the RNY revision from my 2 insurance companies due to the fact that it's gotten so bad that I have just been diagnosed with Barrett's esophagus due to the reflux.
Good luck with your surgery's.
I'm more concerned about this surgery than the first one but it has got to be done.

I'm right there with you, this reflux is the worst. I'm having revision surgery on Monday and I'm much more nervous this time around than when I got sleeved.

At this point I'm ready to get the surgery over with so that I can have some relief from the heartburn.

I’m having revision surgery from sleeve to bypass also. I do have acid reflux. The sleeve did great for me until I became stressed and started eating the wrong things and gained back the 100 pounds I had lost. Very disappointed in myself but I’m determined this time. This is major surgery that I said I wouldn’t have but here I am. I know my triggers now. I also know what to avoid and how to deal better with the stress eating.

I got sleeve to bypass April 4. I’m here to support anyone! My GERD is like 95% cured. I hiccup more but that’s it. I’m pissed I waited a year and a half of suffering and choking on acid vomit. It’s been rough but I’d do it again!

Omg the sharts have been my biggest fear. It happened a lot with my sleeve but so far not even once with bypass and I’m 6 weeks out if I can count correctly. 🤞🏼 I will say my poop smells like it belongs to a stranger 😂. I’m extremely gassy but no pooping of the pants! I’ve had some sugar but in low amounts like a tablespoon in my oatmeal or a piece of dark chocolate.

Yes, never trust a fart. And on poop, wow, I was surprised by the smell. Like what in tarnation did I eat? Had to warn the hubby to stay clear for 5-10 minutes 😀

It’s seriously so weird. It legitimately seems like a strangers poops. Definitely don’t want to have to go in public 😂

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
