Family driving me crazy!!!

Recommended Posts

So at the beginning of this whole journey the only person who has always been behind me is my husband. No he is acting like I can not do anything, cook, wash clothes, wash dishes. If I try to walk to long in his eyes he is telling me to lay down. Of that's not enough now I have my mother who questioned the way, made little remarks about my weight now wanting to come take care of me. Not only does she want to come stay with me she wants to bring my two youngest nicece too. Which are 3 and 5. It's not some vacation from work for a family get together, I'm recovering over here.

Just find it funny now that I am accomplishing what I set out to do now everyone is all of a sudden on mine and husband side.

I'm not sure but I think that says your husband loves 💗 you. I don't know what I would do without my daughter helping me. I've had a hard time recovering and help is a blessing.

I hope it all works out for you and you get the support you need.

Best wishes!

He sounds so sweet! You might think about reminding him that you need to exercise to help your recovery. You could tell your Mom that you and your husband need to figure out your "new normal" on your own, and reassure her that your husband is taking good care of you. (And you'd love to see her after you've healed so that you can do more things together.)

Thanks. Will try that. Fingers crossed.

First, how wonderful that the tides have turned and everyone wants to support you!

However, if you need space, just say so.

Best wishes.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
