I am going out town unexpectedly in two weeks. I am 2 1/2 months post-op. What have you guys done about about eating on vacations and drinking alcohol? This is my first trip post-op. I am really nervous!

If you ask the restaurant for modifications on your meal most will. If you are in the soft stage then order stuff like soup/mashed pot.
Room service has eggs etc. you can do it!!!😊👍🏻

I took a two week cruise 2 months post-op and just made serious choices and conscious decisions on what to eat at meals. I don't drink alcohol, so that wasn't a problem, but I read that if you do drink alcohol you have to be careful because with our smaller stomachs it'll get us drunker faster.

Interested in reading the replies to this... I am actually scheduled to travel 3 mos post op and then going to Greece for 2 weeks on my 4 mos anniversary. I have been looking up health food stores on the islands hoping I can get some Protein. I am going to bring a few days supply with me but not sure I can take 2 weeks of shakes or even powders with me.

I went on vacation at 2 months also. I bought Protein Shakes and kept them in the mini fridge and one in my purse while I was out sightseeing. We did eat at restaurants a lot and I ordered appetizers (shrimp cocktail) grilled fish or chicken or Soup. I checked the menus online so I could plan ahead.

I think the destination would be key to planning. Greece sounds perfect, the Mediterranean diet is pretty healthy!

I plan on bringing on container of Premier Protein powder and a shaker. I hope at 4 mos I can handle a little grilled shrimp and fish as well. Thank you for sharing that I need all the help I can get on this new mission I'm on!!!

I travel nearly weekly, starting at 3 weeks post op.

The only real challenge is getting enough Protein. I packed shakes and bars, so I could be sure I'd hit that macro. But every restaurant, every airport, convenience store, has good healthy options available. Sometimes you have to make some tweaks to dishes, but the basics of our diet is lean protein, and that is easy to find.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
