They told me I had 6 ports during my surgery. There are 6 slices on my abdomen but I also have noticed that my belly button is cut. I dreamt that my belly button was crusty but now it really is. I'm not sure if it's from the surgery or not. Anyone wise have issues week ugh their belly button after our know if that's a typical place for them to cut?

I've had 3 previous abdominal surgeries and they went through my belly button. This time I asked if he could go through the top because I've had trouble healing my belly button.

Yes, I had 6 incision sites.

I've had a prior laparoscopic surgery that went through my belly button, so it's possible.

Yes, I've had laparoscopic surgery before my gastric bypass (gallbladder about 15 yrs ago) and they use the belly button for one of the incisions. I think that's where they insert the camera to see inside your abd. The other incisions are where they put the instruments to do their work. I only had 4 for gallbladder but 6 for bypass. The only site they used for both surgerys was the belly button one so I have a bunch of tiny abd scars. The gallbladder ones are pretty light now but I can still tell where they are.

The navel is the key point of entry for the majority of all laparoscopic procedures. It's 'home base,' so to speak, for the best viewing of intra-abdominal organs, and manipulation of the instruments, camera, etc.

When I had my tubal ligation way back in 1982 they put a scar in my lower navel, when I had my RnY on September 5th 2018 Dr Needleman put one in the top ,while healing and #2 was a tad swollen it was like they were kissing. I feel think it was a way of blessing, a visible sign , " you have gone through 2 abdominal surgeries, each changed you in a fundamental way, but all is well, use both for good in your life, and remember always you are worthwhile and many more love you than you ever may know! All is well!" ,,,.,,,,,,,,,,Frustr8

I got a bonus hernia repair in my belly button so yes, there's a heal going on there. Apparently they will have to redo it in a year after my weight loss because a big 'outie' is going to appear. I'm okay with that.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
