Had VSG two days ago and am having trouble lying down. It causes discomfort in my stomach - anyone else feel this? It’s especially uncomfortable after I sip liquids. Does this go away?

I slept propped up. Yes, it’s totally normal. I couldn’t stand up straight for over a week. The sipping pain will go away too. It’s all part of the healing process. Hang in there, it WILL get better. This first week is rough

I've been sleeping propped up with pillows all over to get my nightly rest.

I am 12 days post op and just now feel like I can lay down and be comfortable. I was sleeping sitting up till now because it was just too painful to try and lay down. I am still very sore, but I not nearly as painful as in the beginning. It will get easier!

Prior to surgery, I used to sleep on my left side. Following surgery, however, I started sleeping on my right side. In the early days, I would use extra pillows so my head wasn't lying flat. Seemed to work well for me.

Hi! My surgery was on the 20th and I can’t lay flat either. I have tried the bed but I just recently relocated to the chair in the living room, it reclines and its much better than my bed. What I’ve done is switch positions as often as possible so you don’t get stiff in that spot. I would give anything to lay on my side! :)

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
