strangecar 19 Posted March 23, 2019 Had VSG two days ago and am having trouble lying down. It causes discomfort in my stomach - anyone else feel this? It’s especially uncomfortable after I sip liquids. Does this go away?
DanaC84 1,116 Posted March 23, 2019 I slept propped up. Yes, it’s totally normal. I couldn’t stand up straight for over a week. The sipping pain will go away too. It’s all part of the healing process. Hang in there, it WILL get better. This first week is rough

angie_is_losing_it 90 Posted March 24, 2019 I am 12 days post op and just now feel like I can lay down and be comfortable. I was sleeping sitting up till now because it was just too painful to try and lay down. I am still very sore, but I not nearly as painful as in the beginning. It will get easier!Sent from my SM-N950U using BariatricPal mobile app
nomdeplume 36 Posted March 24, 2019 Prior to surgery, I used to sleep on my left side. Following surgery, however, I started sleeping on my right side. In the early days, I would use extra pillows so my head wasn't lying flat. Seemed to work well for me.

I have tried the bed but I just recently relocated to the chair in the living room, it reclines and its much better than my bed. What I’ve done is switch positions as often as possible so you don’t get stiff in that spot. I would give anything to lay on my side! :)
