OMG Yes! I was so itchy after surgery that I was hurting myself with scratching. I'm not sure if it's correct but when I looked online I found out about the 'keto rash' and thought that could be the cause. When your body is in ketosis - when it's burning fat due to lack of carbs - it can cause that itchiness in places on your body where you typically sweat more. Like I said, not sure this is the actual cause because I didn't have a visible rash and I was mostly itchy on my lower legs. It did go away but every now and then I get a flair up that lasts for a few hours then goes away again.

Hope you feel better soon.

Me too! Mostly on my belly. It itches all the time. My skin has been so dry ever since surgery, and I thought it was just dry skin. Lotion doesn't really stop the itching. Then I thought that maybe the skin was getting saggy and that was causing it. Good to know that ketones could be responsible.

I still itch occasionally, maybe it's just part of life? My skin also at rest looks like watered silk, you know when you wash a scarve, don't flatten it or hang up to dry, and gets all wrinkly. And my legs feel dry and rather coarse textured when you touch or run your fingers up and down, I actually notice that more than baggy/saggy. Is this normal for 7 months having lost 80 pounds? And that's on a doctor's scale not a fly by night self adjusted scale at home, so I guess it's the truth.

Maybe the itching is also related to a lack of oils. I am just craving oils. My skin is so dry and my hair is like straw. I actually "cheated" and started having 1/8 of an avocado most days, using a little butter, and using 2% cottage cheese instead of fat free. I figure as long as I log it and include all the calories, it is OK as long as my Protein is still where it should be. I will get the "green light" in 10 days to add these things "officially." I can hardly wait to add in some nuts, seeds, and olive oil.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
