DR SABINE was amazing! ADELAIDE

Recommended Posts

Had my first initial appointment with the surgeons dr.

I had to do an assessment and discussion with this doctor he works with the surgeon and assists him.

If anyone is from Adelaide Australia and looking at surgery I suggest you look into Ashford hospital bariatrics.

I will meet the surgeon next time but for a first impression face to face with this doctor he was so friendly open to the point he listened to everything I had to say he was impressed with how much I knew and I told him I've been researching everything for months and he agreed with me about the RNY mostly because of how bad my diabetes type2 is that's number one, we had a good discussion he was so easy to get along with and I've dealt with many doctors in my life.

I was very happy with the process he said I can make the next appointment with the surgeon closer to my date and he will discuss my case with the surgeon Dr Teague but he can't see any reason why the bypass won't happen!

This is the full process literally; see him today, see him and surgeon Next time, see dietitian to discuss pre-op diet, have the surgery see the dietitian at least once post op, obviously come in for checkups post op I was so happy, he said there may be others that have lower prices but they aren't as well trained and one surgeon actually had never been trained and got in big trouble years back but his surgery and Ashford have many good reviews and he was very professional but being in Australia I still have six months waiting period before insurance will cover the surgery then I pay a gap of $4000 that's everything.

I really feel bad for some of the hoops American insurance companies have I'm glad it's more straightforward with the surgeon I've chosen.

We have had in the past several other " Ashford" and they too sang his praises so I know it has to be a great option.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
