I can drink low cal fizzy drinks, but they do make me feel bloated. Also, they taste a bit too sweet now, so if I'm going to consume bubbles, I go straight for the Prosecco! ;-)

We all make our own choices. Check your plan.

Your surgery restriction is tight right out from surgery. It's going to be hard enough to consume your Protein goal. My dieticians’ instructions are no soda in weight loss mode.

Years out, yes, I have a carbonated beverage occasionally. I really don’t do soda as a norm and I don't miss it.

^^^This. Not often on carbonation. Doesn't make me feel real swell even at 13 months.

Yeah, I have one every now and then, when I drink alcohol, but I can't drink much because they end up hurting my belly. You're fairly fresh from surgery, if I'm remembering correctly, so I would hold off another 6+ months if I were you.

I was only told I could try them at 3 months. some do irritate me, others not so much.

I'm 8 months out and I still can't have more than a few sips of carbonation. It makes me feel like my sleeve might explode.

I do really well with sparkling waters and they provide a much needed change from plain old water!!

It's prohibited on my plan. I was warned about it on the day of my initial consultation. Because of that, prior to having surgery, I weaned myself off of caffeine and carbonated beverages.

I'm 3 months post-op and can't imagine drinking carbonated beverages. Surgeon's instructions were not to have them, so I'm not. I think it would be too fizzy and gassy and make me full and bloated.

I was told from my surgeon to Not drink any carbonated beverages and not to drink from a straw. I don’t drink any carbonated drinks and don’t drink from a straw.

I drink pop again now, I love Coke Zero but I keep it to one or two a week and I usually have to do fountain drinks because it’s less fizzy.

It’s good to get away from coke type drinks...esp since they hold zero value to all of us on this journey. It’s ultimately up to you and what your surgeon and team recommended but I’ve gotten away from all carbonated products about two years before I had surgery and now I’m 7 mos post op and still haven’t had any and I don’t plan to. I know it’s hard. Good luck to you

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
