I'm only a week post op and not extremely hungry physically but mentally I just want a hot dog and a mountain Dew it's super early and dangerous to cheat but I feel like I'll never be able to have the food I like ever again and it kinda makes me sad, how long post op did you guys eat regular food??

Congrats on a successful surgery! Don't eat it! :)

So I logged it all down in this thread! Take your mind off your head hunger and read through this journal to see when I started eating. ;)

You’re doing great! You don’t need hot dogs or Mountain Dew. You will absolutely feel SO SICK if you do

By the way? That comment in the photo isn't for you. It was what I posted for myself when I knew I was gonna whine about the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. :) I still look at it to remind myself how good I have things! :D

I looked through this thanks I have a question I'm also on the Premier Protein but they feel extremely thick and make a lot of mucus in my mouth did you have this problem? Maybe it's the milk in it, any way to fix that problem? I was mojo able to drink half of one shake before it made my stomach upset

I was eating solid food at 5 weeks post-op but I still can't eat many things (steak, soft tortillas, etc.) and haven't returned to what I'd call "regular" food because "regular" food is what made me fat in the first place. I'm eating salmon, cheese, and 90% Protein and very little of anything else. I get full really quickly and can only eat something like 2 oz at a time, which is the beauty of the sleeve surgery being a tool for weight loss. Hang in there and don't eat that dog. 🙂

"Normal food" in the sense of "everything is allowed now" was about 4-6 weeks post op. First coffee after 4 weeks. Between week 4 und 6 one was supposed to introduce one food after another, first the softer ones.

So hot dog and mountain dew might not be the right choices right now. ;)

Maybe see this as a challenge to conquer head hunger and the feeling of "having to eat right now". If you choose to eat hot dogs the day you'll be able to - that's your choice and only yours in the end.

I'd stay away from calorie containing beverages though.

I made it 2 days short of my 4 weeks before I ate anything not pureed (with my doctors permission). It was St Patrick's day (and my husband's birthday) and I had corned beef and carrots. I could only eat 2 oz of meat and one baby carrot, but it was divine!!! You can do it! It isn't worth the risk of blowing out your stitches, eating before you are cleared by your doctor, and carbonated beverages will fill you sleeve up with gas, and that would be so painful. I am rooting for you!

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
