NikNaks 2 Posted March 17, 2019 Well hello, anyone and everyone who might be reading this I'm Nikki, 26 year old soon to be RN who is going full time to nursing school, already have Bachelor's in Biology, been married, getting divorced, moved out, work full time in an ER, so what better to do than get surgery? Not any surgery, as you all know, a life altering all consuming procedure that literally drains me of all my self control and sanity. I guess what I am trying to do with this post is see if there is anyone like me out there. Young, stressed, and wanting nothing more then to live their best life. So I ask you this, question #1, what made you want to get this done? For some of us, like me, it is to be healthy to decrease risks of diabetes or heart disease. Others, also like me, want to look and feel how they do on the inside to be expressed on the outside. I am one week away from my surgery, I have the joy of drinking Protein Shakes that taste like they want to be food but just can't get seem to get their sh*t together. Can I censor curse on here? Well I am going to! What makes it worse is you can't escape food, even in the comfort of your own home people are eating in your shows, commercials, your neighbors are cooking...I swear I'm not crazy, just theses shakes have me dying to eat! Alright, question # 2... even though some of us are so close to the finish line and are about to get the surgery or we are on lap 2 of the race and are post-op, does anyone just want to quit? In my head I feel like it is so much easier to just be overweight, obese, clog my arteries with delicious fried foods and just accept the fact that people will always look at me funny because I am nothing like the models. But then I remember, I am too stubborn and too determined to die young or live a life where I depend on someone to push me around because I can't waddle any more. I hope none of my crude, blunt, sarcastic demeanor offends anyone..I just hoping to find like-minded support. I live in a state where I have no family and limited friends, most if not all of them don't support my choice to get surgery to fix my weight issue...I guess this is question #3 who else has to deal with backlash, judgement, and the constant "well did you try cardio, how about this diet or this" in their lives? I look forward to hearing anyone's responses to these questions Kisses 1 GreenTealael reacted to this
othella 20 Posted March 17, 2019 Yeah that sounds like my life a little. My husband understands but the rest of my family thinks it's just for him. Nevermind my medical issues that seems to follow me everywhere. I'm from Michigan. Where are you from??Sent from my Moto E (4) using BariatricPal mobile app 1 GreenTealael reacted to this
GreenTealael 25,439 Posted March 17, 2019 Welcome to the forum! You will find a lot of different stories if you search. Some may mirror yours, some completely different. One thing in common: We made (or are making) the change and all the efforts that go along with it. Big accomplishment. Good luck with the upcoming surgery. You will be amazed what a difference a year can make along with proper support (online or in person), and a dynamic attitude. 👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑 1 othella reacted to this

I am also from the capitol of Michigan. I had my surgery because of my health. I am a diabetic, had HB. I have 2 adult children and would love to see grandchildren. I do miss my burgers and pizza but have learned to say no to all of it. It is still hard but I just try to remember what got me into trouble in the first place. You've got this. anl1990 91 Posted March 18, 2019 #1 - I did it because I needed the extra push. I needed the extra help with controlling myself, and it certainly does what it is supposed to. HOWEVER. I struggle hard mentally, because my brain still talks me into eating the way I used to, and makes me push my boundaries. It honestly makes me feel like such a failure... #2 - YES. I would be lying if I said I didn't want to quit, or have regrets most days. But having the NSV, and seeing the numbers go down on the scale, it helps. Best of luck on your journey, I have faith you will succeed. 1 Catherine Wible reacted to this
