Please advise or share your story..I had bypass surgery on Feb 5th. I’m down about 35pounds and tons of inches. Anyway I have problems with arthritis and sciatic pain. So I know we can’t take anitinflammatory meds. What is the world can I do? Now this dreadful plantar fasciitis wants to rear its ugly head. I hurt every single day. I was hoping surgery would help me with all of this pain. Tylenol is worthless!!!! I am miserable. If I can’t get this under control my summer will be ruined there is no way I can work out in this much discomfort. Is any of this familiar to any of you ? If so what did you do or what did your doctor suggest?

There are exercises for sciatica. I work for a pain management physician who specializes in steroid injections. Physical therapy and stretches are the most important thing you can do. I am pre op but discussed with my surgeon if I required steroids or NSAIDs what would happen. They can increase the omeprazole while on the medications to protect you, but it’s not a long term solution. I hope you feel better soon. I have plantar faciitis. I tape my foot with KT tape to work daily and use a frozen water bottle to roll under my foot. Works like a charm!

I too suffer from arthritis in random places...a toe a knee a finger just all over. My rheumatologist has me on an infusion every 8weeks called symponi aria. Best thing that ever happened to me. I used to be on an injection pen every 2 weeks called humira but it stopped working after some time plus I hated the pain of the shot!

I'm trying this for inflammation. It has a lot of really good reviews on Amazon So we'll see. My wife works in a wound clinic and said her patients swear by it. I suffer from gout which is a form of arthritis and NSAIDs were the godsend for outbreaks but not an option post-op.

Just an idea to try - turned my life around. Gluten and sugar. (Wheat and sugar are the most inflammatory foods known.) I was nearly crippled and using a walker from inflammation and joint pain. I was using NSAIDS around the clock. Eliminating gluten and sugar has been transformational. I have not used NSAIDS for a long time and can walk and hike pain free. My brother had the same experience. He could hardly walk and is now training to hike the Grand Canyon.

Yes, it requires a lot of label reading. It also opens up a whole realm of grains that people don't usually consider, but which are much healthier - quinoa, teff, amaranth, millet, buckwheat, sorghum. I can cook an entire Thanksgiving dinner with no wheat, and no one can tell the difference!

Just an idea.

      Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

        As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

        Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

      Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
