I am still pretty confined to my bed. I get up to walk and pee and that's pretty much it. I started Vitamins 4 days after surgery. They are chewable and I hate them. At this point I feel like I will never be able to be the person I was before surgery. I have serious "buyers remorse "... I am so hungry all the time. I drink two Protein Shakes a day. Plus lots of Water. broth tastes disgusting to me. I'm so sick of sugar free Jello and popsicles. At the rate I am healing it will be summer before I drive. If you cant tell, I'm just super down about this while dang thing. Sorry to vent. I hope you are having an easier time.

It’s ok to vent. I know I started feeling better physically and mentally when I could start soft foods. And I know that doesn’t make it any better in the here and now!!  I hope you start feeling better soon 😘

I just had my surgery this past Monday (March 11) and am concerned because everything I’m eating (which is basically just Jello since I’m on clears) is running through me. I know that this is dumping syndrome. But does it get better the longer out you are from surgery and when you’re getting back to “normal” foods?

I had the same issue and mine wasn’t from dumping . I also had it pre op on my liquid diet. Broths went right thru! It slowed down after getting to the soft stage and now back to completely normal. It seems a lot of people have one issue or the other (not going at all). I think whoever mentioned their nurse said that our bodies have been through a lot and are adjusting nailed it. Good luck 🤞🏻

I was sleeved 2/20 And I have not successfully had one for Vitamin down since then. It has almost been a month ago. The second I eat them I am nauseated for hours or I started violently dry heaving. I have tried to take small nibbles but same result. I have been using the Patches for the last four weeks. I am putting them on religiously - 4 at a time each day. I did read that they are not FDA approved and there is some question as to the absorption of Vitamins through the skin and the effectiveness of them. That concerns me but the alternative is no Vitamins at all....

Would you mind sharing with your doctors office said? I missed my postop appointment and I have not had a chance to talk to my surgeon about it. I like talking directly to the surgeon is sometimes his staff has told me things that contradict with what he tells me.

They said that they’ve been checking the blood work of the people using the Patches closely and everything has been fine. Same as if they had been taking oral vitamins.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
