Not feeling full

Recommended Posts

I am only taking in 1/2 a Protein Shake and Soup twice a day. Sometimes I feel full other times I don’t. Does anyone else feel like this? I put Protein in my soup or some juice to make sure I get my protein in for the day.

That's all you eat? 1/2 a Protein Shake and Soup twice a day? That's not much at all. When I was a month out, like you are, I was drinking 2 shakes a day and eating some pureed foods.

It has taken me awhile to learn my new stomach. I don’t ever feel full the way I used to like typical full feeling after say a holiday meal. I have all new triggers that let me know it’s time to stop and I’ve learned (the hard way 🤢) not to take one more bite. My head will still eye the food on my plate and want to finish it. For me I’ve had to realize satisfied is my new full

I look at the commercials on tv and think boy that would taste so good. My dr has everyone go in phase 1 is Clear Liquids for 2 weeks, phase 2 is Protein Drinks and creamed Soups for 5 weeks, phase 3 is full liquid which means I can have Everything in phase 2 plus cream of wheat yogurt and pudding for 1 week. Phase 4 is puréed foods for 1 week. Phase 5 is introducing food back into my diet. I almost crave just chewing the food.

I feel full really easily, so I'm still getting 600-800 calories a day with Protein Shakes and some cheese and deli ham.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
