Jenn_07 4 Posted March 14, 2019 Hi everyone I’m new to this app but I have going through all the requirements to get my date I’m on my nutritionist class this month. But I do have a question when do I start my liquid diet?
FluffySaysForkIt! 823 Posted March 14, 2019 Hi Jenn! I am a newbie here too, so there are many, many, people here much better suited to answer your question. That said, I believe once you get your actual date your Doctor will get you instructions for any liquid diet you need. (Not all of them require them and they vary quite a lot.) You can always call them to be sure. Anyway, from one Newb to another, welcome! Keep chipping away at it!
Jenn_07 4 Posted March 14, 2019 Thanks FluffySaysForkIt ! Welcome to this as well. Did you have your surgery yet or you are still in the process
Odia Haynes 10 Posted March 14, 2019 I just want to say Welcome and congratulations. Well for me I don't have to start a pre-opt diet and my surgery is the 19 of March I just can't gain no more weight. I'm very excited right now!
Jenn_07 4 Posted March 14, 2019 Thank you Odia! Congratulations on your journey, I went through the process twice and gave up this time I’m going through with it so I’m excited to get a date 😊But good luck with you surgery and your journey. 1 Odia Haynes reacted to this
DanaC84 1,116 Posted March 14, 2019 Welcome to all of you!! Very exciting times 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Yea, pre op AND post op diets vary greatly. As you progress and read more posts it may / will make you question the plan your surgeon has laid out for you. Especially when you’re still on liquids and someone who had surgery the same time as you is already eating, like EATING EATING! Lol! Congratulations to all and good luck on your prospective journeys 👍🏻 2 Jenn_07 and Odia Haynes reacted to this

GradyCat 3,695 Posted March 15, 2019 If you're talking about the pre-op diet, it's the two weeks before your surgery date. I didn't have to do a liquid diet pre-op, just restricted to 1500 calories per day. Then of course post-op you do two weeks liquid diet right after surgery as well. 1 Jenn_07 reacted to this
DavidP 6 Posted March 15, 2019 It depends on your doctor but a 2 week pre-op diet seems to be pretty common. 1 Jenn_07 reacted to this
Big Pooky 0 Posted March 15, 2019 I will give my two cents of advice on the liquid pre op. If your doctor makes you do 2 weeks of Protein Shake then make absolutely sure you have lots of variety. Mama J 4 Posted March 16, 2019 I'm having my surgery at The University of Vermont Medical Center, and their program requires a full liquid diet for 2 weeks prior to surgery. I started it on March 12 and my surgery is on March 26th. I hope that helps.
