EspeciallyKK 12 Posted March 14, 2019 Anyone else struggle with not being allowed to drink anything with meals? I’m only 2 weeks post op today but sometimes, I just need a sip of Water during my meal. I find it very difficult. Anyway, just wondered. 2 GreenTealael and ProudGrammy reacted to this
CurvyMom 386 Posted March 14, 2019 Yes, that part is hard for me. I have occasionally taken a sip but now that I am eating solid foods it is not a good idea....so I just wait it out. 3 EspeciallyKK, GreenTealael and ProudGrammy reacted to this

Don't have to like it/ but its one of the BIG rules that must be followed. Very important!! good luck kathy 2 1 CurvyMom, GreenTealael and EspeciallyKK reacted to this

Keep working at it. You can do it 👑 1 EspeciallyKK reacted to this
toodlerue 452 Posted March 14, 2019 Yes! Sometimes after I eat I just need to get the taste of the food out of my mouth so I will take a small sip and swish it around. Servers just look at me funny when I don’t want anything to drink. I just Ask for Water to make them feel better.
EspeciallyKK 12 Posted March 14, 2019 Ya it’s def a dry food issue sometimes. But also, the amount of chewing we have to do grosses me out. I know that’s dumb, lol. But I just need a sip! Lol.
KimTriesRNY 1,853 Posted March 14, 2019 You will get used to it eventually, but it is definitely unnatural. ‘I agree with the above, I always make sure I order or cook something that will be moist if possible. If absolutely necessary I do take a tiny sip if I’m done eating. I also rinse my mouth or brush my teeth after eating which can help.

I originally could never conceive of not drinking with meals, but it's normal for me now. Make sure you drink in your window before your meal so you're not actually thirsty.
