Summer, beaches and a cold cold beer!!!

Recommended Posts

So here is a thought, I dont drink but I am going away in the summer to the Caribbean and I was thinking laying at the beach and a bartender comes around with a very cold beer. What would u do? I know we are not allowed to drink alcohol so I'm just curious anyone had a beer after surgery and what happened

I would say no thank you- but I might get a differetn sort of drink if I was on vacation and I wanted to have a drink- depending how far post op I was. Beer won't ever be in my future again but I will drink again occasionally at some point farther down the road. It won't be my norm but I am sure I will.

From what I understand, the problem is not just the alcohol, it's the carbonation too. It would probably not be as enjoyable as you might imagine. Get a tropical non-alcoholic fruity drink!

I’m at the beach now I’m 4 months post op and I have drunk a beer or 2 a day I know I shouldn’t 😬 it didn’t hurt me but I am worried about it messing with my pouch. Have fun 😊

I’ve seen mixed views on this. I have had two beers and am 5 mos post op. I had two hard seltzer’s but those bother me cuz they were too carbonated but the beer didn’t. So who knows. Not something I’ll do often

I'm probably a bad patient - I allow myself to drink on vacation (I did at about 6 months out). But I can't handle carbonation or much sugar (no fun fruity drinks :( ). So, I typically order wine or vodka cranberry (heavy on the cran). I can usually only finish about half a glass, but its nice to have a bit.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
