Gsv yesterday..hungry today!

Recommended Posts

So I had my gastric sleeve done yesterday morning all went well I feel well I'm going home in about a half an hour but I got to tell you I'm hungry. Is this normal? I was kind of afraid of this. Although I have to remember that when I do start eating in a month or so I don't know how long it takes it will be very little and I won't be able to eat as much. Anybody else hungry after their operation?

Yes, but not till the 4th day and I was starving. I drank broth and it helped tremendously. For some reason it goes down real easy for me. Hopefully you don't have to wait a long time to do Protein Shakes. That should help stave of hunger. I had to wait 1 week and it was so very hard. Good luck!

Ha ha ha. Dont worry plenty of people will be on here soon to tell you that you arent really hungry it is all in your head. It is just head hunger, feel free to tell those people to f**k off. I was starving the morning after surgery. Once you are able to take in puree and soft foods you should start to feel better.

I'm only 4 days in...Surgery on the 9th. I've felt hungry a little but most of the time I haven't. Stay hydrated. That helps.

Yeah I think you're absolutely right it's not head Hunger if I think back to the last time I ate anything even a Protein Shake it was 3 days ! of course I was hungry. Thank you for the validation. I hope it gets better when I get on the pureed as well. Then I got to think well I can be hungry all I want I still can only take a limited amount in.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
