June 2019 sleevers

Recommended Posts

Hi! I am new here...

Scheduled for 06/29... I am freaking out. Last night I had the realization that I am actually scared of being a normal weight..... I am not sure how I am going to survive the next 20 days. I am so nervous!

I had the lap band 11 years ago and lost 100 pounds. The ease of moving around was heaven. I didn't walk into a room and try to figure out what chair I would sit in or could I do the booth. People start to talk to you and you get attention. I got to do what I wanted to do without fear of how would my size effect it. Go for it and live your best self. Make a list of all the things you were afraid to do or wanted to do but didn't because of size. Then go out and conquer the world.

Just know this

Life-saving life-changing

Youll never be the Sane as u were before

ur goal when eating js to provide ur body with nutrition to sustain ur life. It will never be about fun anymore when I eat. If u choose cake over a meal, u will not be taking care of ur body.

just remember this...if they tell u it’s time to get up and walk, get up and walk, walk, walk, walk, walk , walk. Drinking in the beginning will be a chore. Take a sip every 10 minutes. With me, I the second day, the day I went home. I walked around the ward, and every time I got to my room, I’d sip Water then go back around again, I did that for like 45 minutes.

When u get home. Get up every 15 and take stroll around the house, when u do, take a sip of water.

be very methodical and you’ll be fine

plan

good,luck

Hi Everyone,

This is my first post. I'm from MA and am having the Gastric Sleeve on 6/18/19.

Nervous and excited. I'm grateful to everyone who is sharing their own experiences and truths. I know that life will be dramatically different.

Best of luck to all the June Sleevers!

Good luck tomorrow! I just had mine on 5/23 & honestly - it's been great. First 24 hours were way more painful than I expected. Everything else has been easier than I expected. The day after when they finally gave me fluids, it was not hard to get them down. I did the 2oz sipped. Watched the clock and paced myself, but easy. The first 2 weeks of nothing but Soups I was climbing the walls. I'm literally... 18 days post op and no complications. I can easily easily drink. I woke up this morning & probably drank 8oz in one sip. I'm being careful to never drink at least 30 min past eating & have made it a personal challenge to get down 65oz of just Water per day, but it's not been hard. liquids go down super easy for me. Meals, 4oz. I'm eating eggs, ground meats, yogurts. A lot of quiche - eggs and cheese & veggies. I've also had no issues whatsoever with swallowing any pills.

First post here. I had my sleeve surgery on 6/4 , so I'm 1 week post-op. Doing OK, though still having a lot of pain from my "stomach removal" incision. Walking & moving more every day. Still on liquids for another week. Can drink really well, as long as it's not a BIG gulp! Then it hurts... oh how it hurts!

Finally hit my Protein & liquid goals yesterday. Yay!

I had my surgery yesterday. Yesterday was rough. Nausea and pain. But today I'm doing well. Hopefully the worst is behind me.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
