I have Type 2 Diabetes and sleep Apnea. I'm 5'5 and weigh 244 lbs. I'm super excited, but also very nervous about the recovery time. The doctor said it would be 1 night in the hospital, and no heavy lifting for 2 weeks but that I could essentially go back to work after 2 days. Upon hearing stories and reading other websites....that's not looking to be true. HI i am 1 yr post op. Let me tell you about any surgery, routine or not, every surgery is different, no matter routine. i stayed overnight. I followed the doctors orders. I was walking ny that afternoon. Walking is Important to release the air. The other thing was drinking fluids. I had the little robutussin medicine cups for my fluids. They would collect them to determine if I had drank enough. They also had a urine collector and measuring in toilet. I walked, drank and peed. Every hospital and doctor is different. So just use what you have read as a guideline but not what it is. You are not that big, not like my 600 lb life, they stay for days cause they can’t move or won’t and have other issues, I think you may stay longer cause if your diabetes. They probably want to make sure you sugar levels are good. Just follow the doctor and nurses instructions, that’s all u can control. good luck.

I think if I did, I probably wouldn’t have done it. just know you will need to take Vitamins forever. And when they say Protein is important, it is it you won’t be healthy and could get t sick. It gets hard to eat and think of Protein constantly Just be very very prepared good luck Purplegirl, I've read your comment a couple of times but haven't searched. I'd love to know the cons. I want to be aware. In my case my decision probably won't change as I have health issues now from being obese for so long, plus harder to workout, less energy. So I would probably have to do this as a health issue, but is it that you could have done Keto instead? Or you weren't in critical health? Or I'd love to hear more about the cons from you. From your stats it seems that you weren't too big to start? Did you have obesity health issues as well? 1 Batty2000 reacted to this

More so than I was for scheduled c-Sections. I think it’s the anesthesia and surgery process itself that wakes me up at night and keeps me awake. Wishing you luck on the 3rd and a great first week. 1 Batty2000 reacted to this
Sandra Nuelken 419 Posted June 2, 2019 Good luck on your upcoming surgery. The surgery and anesthesia was always the easy part as I was asleep, it is the get-up and move part that scares me. I had the lap band 11 years ago and that was one of my first surgeries. Since then it has unfortunately become a yearly event this last couple of years. Keep us posted and I'll wish for the best for you. 1 Batty2000 reacted to this
MLB357 58 Posted June 4, 2019 Well I have been a member on here since February and I have really enjoyed lingering here nightly following everyone stories both pre and post surgery. Now it's time for me, two days out (5 June). But due to being member of this site I feel really good about Wednesday. Reading other's sharing their stories has help prepare me both mentally and physically. Thanks WLS family, meet you on the other side. 2 1 Sharlanay, SLSH and Batty2000 reacted to this

MLB357 58 Posted June 6, 2019 Update: everything went well today, was actually up and walking the halls about two hours after getting in my room. Don’t get me wrong the pain can be real. Especially the gas pain, but you know who told me what do when that happens? My WLC family here, so I got my butt up and started walking . It worked. Thank from the bottom of my heart... good night 2 1 NoMoore, SLSH and Batty2000 reacted to this

Went home, felt perfect. Gotta walk after any surgery to get better 1 Batty2000 reacted to this

I already have in my head that I'm going to walk away the pain. 1 Batty2000 reacted to this
