KCgirl061 1,532 Posted March 10, 2019 My husband is concerned about me eating chia seeds. He’s worried they’ll expand in my sleeve and be uncomfortable. Anyone have good or bad experience with chai seeds? I’m 7 months postop. 1 GreenTealael reacted to this
S@ssen@ch 745 Posted March 10, 2019 I eat chia seeds. I put about a tsp in my yogurt for Breakfast. I've eaten them for years either in yogurt or smoothies, even before my sleeve. I'm pretty sure I re-started them within a month or so of surgery. I mix them up in the yogurt and let them sit for as long as a half hour before I consume. They're properly plump by the time I eat them. Unless you're downing dry chia seeds and allowing them to expand in your stomach, I don't see the risk. Even then, you'd have to be consuming A LOT of chia seeds to expand large enough to make a difference. Besides, they're kind of gelatinous and by the time they fully expand, wouldn't they have sort have "moved on", if you know what I mean? 1 GreenTealael reacted to this
Frustr8 7,886 Posted March 10, 2019 I have wondered about China seeds, the fact they turn gelatinous does appeal, I am a weird enough dudette that I like Okra, most people say it verges on slimy but I had an Aunt I dearly loved, a G.R.I.T. (girl raised in the South) had many a good meal with Aunt Besse. She is now one of God's Angels but I miss her still. 1 GreenTealael reacted to this
GreenTealael 25,430 Posted March 11, 2019 Bloom them aforehand, no problems. Check with your team to be certain.
