I think it depends on your surgeon. How long have you been on antibiotics?

I had my gastric sleeve March 4th.The pathology report said i have h pylori. I see surgeon for another post op in 9 days. My primary care told me the report said h pylori. i called the office of the clinic where i see my sergeon. They told me they will talk to me about it on the 1st of April. I wonder why they are waiting to treat it.

Wonder why they waited to test for H. Pylori after surgery? It can contribute to ulcers.

It is part of the clearance process done by my hospital. My nurse told me that not all surgeons or hospital does it.

Same with me. Told it was required which is cool. The EGD helped me hit my insurance deductible LOL

I had it. After the 2 weeks on the prescribed medication i had to wait another 2-3 weeks and then submit stool. The test came back negative.

Did you have symptoms that sent you to be checked ?

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
