Ugh..I told myself I wouldnt let myself get discouraged, it is so hard. I am just about one month post op gastric sleeve. I am still on the puree diet and eating no more than 1/2 cup per meal , six times a day per my MD and NUT, but the scale doesn't want to go down. Little info on myself 5 9, HW 325, SW 310, CW 290. I lost 15 pounds the first week, since then I have only lost 5 pounds, with only 0.5 lbs this last week. I do believe I went down a size in pants, but why wont the scale go down!

I lost for the first 10 days, and then had a 2 week stall. I was really disappointed to be stalling so early. I tracked everything to try to figure it out - calories, macros, Water, exercise, poops, my menstrual cycle. The conclusion I came away with is that it doesn't matter what you track - it's going to happen. It's normal. You'll start losing again soon - it's physics.

I agree. I lost 53 lbs before my surgery, about 11lbs the week of, and then nothing for about 2 or 3 weeks. I was starting to doubt my decision, however, I am losing again..lbs & inches! Our bodies will “plateau” at times to adjust; we just have to remember how far we have come...it’s a daily battle~ our choices are everything! The other day it really sank in for me when I was making the ticker tape on here and I saw that I have lost about 75 lbs in the past 14 months!!! It puts everything into perspective! I have not been much below 300lbs since before I had my children! Today, I am at 231.8!!! My undergarments are falling off, people I haven’t seen in awhile, as well as my coworkers, are commenting...it’s amazing to me; sometimes I just feel like crying! I can actually see myself at the finish line this time! We just have to try and stay focused...it’s our health...and, for me, my children!

In all that huge pile of permissions/acknowledgments/etc. that we sign before surgery, there should be one form, typed in huge block letters, that says "please sign below to indicate that you have been told that your scale is a b***h!" Then that page should be framed and hung above the scale.

You are losing fat. You have to be. You're not eating enough to keep a good-sized gerbil happy. However, on the grand platform of hormones, swelling, Fluid retention, and just plain contrariness, the scale isn't showing it right now. If you haven't already, please take your measurements! There is hardly ever a time where you don't lose either pounds or inches! Having a second source of confirmation helps to keep you from getting discouraged. ((hugs))

@sjemle

listen to your wise words - you are doing great with your weight loss, really!!!.you are following rules. Put the scale away for awhile. "Staring" at numbers can drive you crazy. take your measurements, watching how your body feels/clothes

sizes are an indicator that you are losing!! Your success will go UP, while your weight

and measurements go down. "God Grant Me Patience, Just Hurry Up About It!! keep up the good work!!☺️

There's the infamous one-month stall that they don't tell you about that happens at Weeks 3, 4 or 5 because of the transition from surgery to liquids to soft foods to foods and your body stalls for a couple of weeks. It's perfectly normal. Stop looking at the scale. Have you tried taking body measurements instead?

I'm 12 days on and weighed the same the 9-11 day. I've lost a lot quickly and I think your body has to catch up. I'm not eating a whole lot, so it has to come offveventally. Don't be discouraged, you're going to start losing again!

We had surgery on the same day. I had a nearly week-long stall somewhere in the 2nd/3rd week. I decided to start weighing myself only once a week. It was a great decision. I realized I dropped almost three pounds in one week after the stall. I also started measuring myself once a week too. Good luck!

You sound like me. At 6-7 weeks I had lost 20 pounds since surgery. My surgeon was fine with that. I have had 2 week long stalls (week 3 and week 7) but then it starts up again. Hang in there!

Thank you everyone. I measured myself this week and will continue to do so weekly. I am due to see the MD this week and will see what he says.

May I just say how much I love the camaraderie on here?! We are NOT in this alone! It is so great to have this spot where we can come together and pull each other through doubts, Celebrate triumphs, and make lifelong friends, (along with our commitment). Everyone is so encouraging, and I enjoy reading everyone that shares...through all the different stages.

I didn't lose anything for almost 3 weeks. I am at 5 weeks. I actually gained back 4-5lbs. I ate no more
than 300 calories even less. 5th week I dropped weight all of a sudden. 10lbs down. It does suck, however don't get demotivated. Don't get on the scale. Keep focused. Good luck.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
