Ache from over eating?

Recommended Posts

Bypass was 2 1/2 weeks ago. MD skips purée stage and said to start soft food. So far 1/4 c cottage cheese was fine. I had an egg yesterday all was fine. I had a 90% of a scrambled egg over 20 minutes. It’s been over an hour and I have an annoying ached between my shoulder blades. Is this normal to get this delayed discomfort?

I've heard to softly scramble an egg. Was it maybe overcooked? Also, I wonder if scrambling it with a dash of milk would make it lighter going down?

I practically lived on cottage cheese for the first few days I went to purées.
Did the eggs, but I made sure to soft-scramble it and it did go down easier than boiled.
I also ate some ham salad (not the healthiest because it’s processed, but it was low in carbs and already puréed). Never got an ache in the shoulder blades, but I do get some pain and spasms in my diaphragm area when I drink or eat too fast, or try to drink less than 45 minutes after eating.
Maybe that’s the same pain for you, but it’s being sensed differently. Honestly I don’t know for sure.

I pretty much lived on cottage cheese and yogurt for a while. Couldn't eat more than half a scrambled egg for a while or it felt like I ate a rock once it hit my stomach! At this stage more than a couple bites of anything may be too much. Take it slow and if something doesn't sit well now, wait a few days and introduce it again later. It's boring at first but as you heal it does get better!

eggs fall in my stomach like a ton of bricks and hurts so much no matter how soft I scramble them. so I stopped eating them for now. It seems I also swallow a lot of air at times causing incredible pain. I finally got permission from doc to take Gas-x or something similar. It works right away and the pain is gone. Whenever I have a "delayed a bit" after I eat pain, it is usually gas. I can feel and even hear the gurgling of the air moving around my stomach. I try burping naturally on my own but if if that doesn't work fast enough for me, I'll take a Gas-x and that solves the problem. Check with doctor first before taking anything.

Was it just egg whites? Some people have difficulty digesting the yolks because of the fat.

Odd when my children were babies, they pushed yolks because of the food value but warned against whites because of the high allergy values. Old saying is: what goes around comes around again, but this time it got warped in the transition! Got love medical? advice sometimes!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
