Nutribullet vs Ninja

Recommended Posts

I have all sorts of gadgets (some of which are pretty costly), but I'll be honest. The only one I used in my post-op period was my stick blender.

I used the stick blender to blend fruit into my Protein Shakes. That's it, really. When I was on pureed, I stuck with stuff that was naturally pureed like refried Beans, cottage cheese, soft scrambled eggs, etc.

I wouldn't invest a whole lot into gadgets unless you plan on using them for life or as a normal part of your daily diet.

I think they're both the same really mid range blenders. You can pay $20 or you can pay $2000 it really depends on your budget!

But I can't believe people buying pre-made Protein Drinks at like $3-$5 a drink when you can buy 2lbs of powder from $30+ and make your own shakes!

I am a working mom and i barely drink a shake a day-- so between taking care of my family, cooking meals, doing normal stuff at home, running my kid around, and working a busy full time professional job. I have no problem spending $20-25 bucks for a case of 18 pre made shakes :)

If you choose not to do that- great for you but sometimes convenience is worth a few bucks to people.

I have a Vitamix. They're expensive, sure. But they are great for use as a food processor too. I use it to chop onion and even make cauliflower rice. Be sure to look at it as an investment.

Thanks for the input! I appreciate it.

I spent $14.99 at BigLots for a Hamilton Beach one--looks kinda like a NutriBullet. Get's the job done on my green smoothies and that's about all I use it for. I have other tools for other things. I skipped the mush/puree stage and went straight to softs per my doc.

So I had a nutri bullet before surgery and killed it pretty easily with making smoothies. The ice burned the motor out.

I picked up a ninja blender on Black Friday two years ago and it worked like a champ for me post-op. I still use it for the occasional Protein Shake when I’ve got a sweets craving.

I don’t think I’d buy a super pricey blender just for the purées stage. It’s such a short period of time!

Thank you! I actually ordered the ninja yesterday on Amazon since I still had about $30 left on a gift card. With a 3 y/o and a 13 y/o, I figure I can make plenty of smoothies and shakes. 😊

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
