Will I be ready in time for my gig?

Recommended Posts

I'm having the RNY on March 14th and I'm the lead singer in 2 bands. Oneof my bands has a gig booked on March 24th and one on April 6th. How long did it take you guys to heal? Any chance that anyone here thinks I'll be ready to rock by March 24th?

10 days is a short window for full recovery. I know that you should have a lot of motion, but the incisions may still be painful for some movements. I can't say how it might be for deep breathing for singing.

And keep in mind that you have no idea what your energy levels are going to be like. It is asking a lot of your body to be stage ready and be able to give a good show so soon from surgery.

Which two bands? Any singles you have out there?

I don't know if you diaphragm will be quite ready after only 10 days. Even in April you might still be very tender.

Depends on how much moving around you do while on stage

The truth is none of us can definitively answer this for you. None of us know your pain tolerance or energy level or healing speed.

My respectful suggestion to have a Plan B in case you don't feel up to performing yet.

Good luck! You are not alone.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
