My surgery was yesterday. I guess I was expecting the worst and I’ve been pleasantly surprised. I haven’t had any nausea and I’m not having any pain when taking sips of clears.

I’ve been taking walks and really feeling pretty good. So excited to hear abt everyone’s journeys.

Good luck to you all!!

I’m just curious if you had a drain? I’ve seen some post they have and some haven’t. It kinda freaks me out a little lol

Welcome everyone! It is nice to have this support on here. I started my prep diet on Feb 28th. The first day was super hard and the second day I did a little better. I am in a grove now, but need to work on my portion sizes. I have salad and they want me to only have a cup of lettuce a day and I have a hard time sticking to that at this point. other than that I am doing fairly well with the pre op diet. @DwarfStarlin I am from Ohio and my surgery is on the 13th of March! It is next week and I am excited and nervous.

Good luck for today

let us know how you are when you can x

Yes, I had a drain and I was dreading it. Honestly, it wasn't that bad. I get grossed out really easy so if I say it is not that bad it's not haha. The hospital gave me this cool little crossbody bag that held the drain so I didn't have to worry about it dangling or one of my pets pulling on it. It also held the drain when I was in the shower., so definitely ask if they have one, it was so convenient to have. Also, I thought it would hurt so bad when it came out, never felt a thing. My DR was funny he was asking me "are you sure you want this out today?" I was like yes, he had already taken it out

I was in for one night. They do make you stay for most of the day following surgery. You have to do the swallow test. Once that is done they start giving you Water 2oz at a time. I was very nervous prior to surgery so I understand. I won't lie lie, the first couple of day are tough, but you feel better each day. If you have a recliner I recommend sleeping in it the first few nights. Laying flat hurts. I have been in my bed now the last 2 nights.

Hello! Had my surgery on the 13th, came home yesterday. While they were in there they fixed my hiatal hernia and I had a hernia by my belly button that they also repaired. Biopsied my liver, said it was yellow?? Anyway, lots of pain and hard to get my Water down. Today I added a little crystal light to my water witch is helping get my water in. Been feeling really nauseous. I am liquefying my pain medicine in warm water which is been helping much more than to have it in cold water because it’s not grainy that way. Anyway, a little bit of a rough start out of surgery and up til now. Hopefully I’m turning a corner.

I had my surgery March 12. So far everything has been going good. I’ve been a little sore but no pain and no gas.

I had my surgery on Tuesday the 19th. I was knocked out for the rest of the day. I did vomit twice in the first 24 hours but then I was fine. I walked a mile and was discharged on the 20th. Things have been going smooth and I switched to regular liquid Tylenol by Thursday. I've been hitting at least 2 miles a day on the pedometer. No problem getting liquid or Protein. Thank God [emoji119]

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
