Weight Gain After 4 years gastric sleeve

Recommended Posts

I am new to the forum. I recently moved from Wisconsin to Texas and I gained 20 pounds with that transition. I have it down to 15, but I am very upset with myself. I want to be back at my original weight loss weight. Does anyone have a similar story or how to triumph?? Thank you so much.

You’re not alone, many of us have experienced a gain years out. No need to be upset with yourself. 20 pounds is easier to get off than a 40, 60, 80 or more.

You know how to work your plan, It's the mental battle of getting back into the discipline that you had at the beginning. I joined a challenge for support and to keep myself accountable.

I use myfitness pal to track my food. Here is a link to the just give me ten days weight loss challenge. (many participants)

Moving is one the highest stress events in our lives. Be kind to yourself and stay focused on your original goal ... making healthier choices... and you will get back to where you want to be on the scale. Sending you positive thoughts and virtual hug!

My thoughts exactly! I'm very happy for you that you realized you gained some and are working to correct it. That is a huge win!

Thank you so much. Yes this move was difficult in a variety of ways. The home I rented was a mess. My movers never delivered my belongings and the week after I moved to Houston, my Mom died. My boss and I don't get along. I am trying not to be so hard on myself.

I took the advice from Healthy_life2 and I got back on my Fitness Pal and also joined a challenge. Today has been good. Even when I want a bag of chips I tell myself no. I worked out this morning and have eaten well thus far. One day at a time. I appreciate the encouragement.

First let me say congratulations on the wieght loss, now what everyone needs to be mindful of is that our bodies have the final say on our numbers. I get it we have all been overweight so long and dream of being skinny that we over shoot our goal weight. So when our bodies go down too low the body automatically adjusts by adding some back. Think about it for the most part everyone who complained about gaining was only a 10-20lb difference. What that says to me is our bodies looks for and will eventually find true homeostasis, meaning comfort zone or ideal body wieght not some European body chart (FYI Europeans have a smaller frame than the average American, have you ever purchased a pair of shoes with a euro size you always have to get a bigger size for a true fit). Your wieght loss is very commendable and you should be proud of yourself because I am if it means anything.

You're right. My initial weight loss, I got down to 159. The doctor said I was to small so we agreed on 170. None of these numbers are good for that stupid BMI chart, but it worked for me. Just this past year, I started eating junk and gained 20 pounds. I lost 7 thus far, but I didn't like that it all went to my hips and I had to by all new bottoms. YUCK!!! I just want to be 170 again.

In that case since you know why and when your gain happened it's just a matter of getting back on track, you have the tools. Good luck to you 😀

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
