Recommended Posts

So, I'm scheduled to arrive at the hospital at 8:30 am on Monday and I'm just now thinking of what I should wear to the hospital? What do I pack?

What do you think of yoga pants? It's all I have for stretchy pants. Thanks!

I wore a dress, nothing fancy just like a cotton summery dress. I didn’t want to risk anything rubbing against my incisions

I wore my loosest pair of yoga pants and they were a tight fit when I went home. I had to roll the top down a lot for an easier car ride home. Aside from what the others have said I wish I would have brought a pillow as the one provided I wasn't able to use so I was never truly comfortable in bed.

I just wore the same sweats to and from. But I wish that I would have packed a robe, You'll be expected to walk around the hallway after surgery. Cell phone charger, wound up using that. They supplied me with socks even though I packed some. I packed fresh undergarments and a tank top for the trip home. I wore my hair in a ponytail the whole time and didn't shower until I got home the next day. I took my cpap machine and used it. Forgot my pillow, but the hospital let me use as many as I wanted, I had them behind me and on both sides of me. I basically went into low maintenance for my stay, I just wanted to rest and recover and go home.

I wore out what I wore in. Sweat pants and a loose top..t shirt type. No one cares what you look like and you go in, strip into hospital clothes until you go out. Sure, toothbrush, phone, brush, toothbrush and paste, slippers and i agree with the soft pillow for the seatbelt going home.

My other suggestions are: earplugs, eye mask for sleeping, you have to bring your CPAP if you use one and something like lavendar to put over your nose if need be. I found the smell in the wards could be quite overwhelming.

All you'll want to do that first bit is sleep. They'll get you up and walking but you won't go far..around the wards, that's it..everyone else will look just like you! Not likely you'll be able to read a book. Maybe do some social media on your phone but honestly, that gave me a headache in there! lol!

That's what I'm doing. Wearing the same thing in and out. No bra on the way home.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
