How much can you drink after surgery?

I had surgery last Monday. I had the gastric bypass. I’m able to time myself and every two minutes I’m able to take about 1 to 2 ounces of Fluid whether it’s Water or chicken broth. So over the course of an hour I’m able to drink a cup. Is this too much? Or does fluid go right through your pouch?

Fluid goes right through. Some lucky people (like you) can drink well right from the start. The ones who struggle have more swelling and the fluid has to find a way to trickle down. So long as you don't feel pain, you're golden!

So I think I had Soup too quickly and now I have a dull ache in my back. If you drink too quick do you get nauseated and immediate pain or can it be just discomfort too?

I never had problems drinking, so I'm not sure about this one.

I don’t have any issues drinking and didn’t from day 1. A little over 3 weeks out right now. But if I chug or gulp too much too fast I do feel a little pressure for a few seconds. It passes quickly though. Eating food too fast or too much - that’s a whole other story! I’m learning that the very hard way lol
