When you get really hungry, and you need to eat, how do you keep yourself from eating too fast, and the consequenses? I am wanting to get a second fill, but I am afraid of getting too hungry, and then having some of the very negative reactions, pbing... any input out there?

I welcome the input:confused:

cute cat. it is best for me to take a few bites of food and walk away and then if it goes down ok , take a few more bites. i dont have anyway to eat fast without the chance of getting sick. it is something you will just have to adjust to. it is the way it is with the band. but it is good to eat slow and enjoy your food......

same here, I find that if I let myself get to hungry I get very nauseaus. Then when I do eat, I get sick to my stomach. If I do get really hungry and want to inhale, I will actually make myself stop what I am doing and slow down so that I don't inhale. After getting things stuck the first few times I didn't do this, you learn really quickly

Thanks for the feedback, pun intended, haha.

I think I will learn this very quickly.

I almost considered not having the fill, but then I realized, it was just another way of slowing myself down, putting up obstacles to the whole benefit of having the lap band.

I just have to continue to listen to others, and adjust.

Thanks again.:clap2:

I got a bunch of one minute (hourglass style) timers that I put next to me when I'm eating. I've slimed too many times and this helps me to slow down alot, which in turn helps me to be able to eat a little bit more per meal. If I don't pay attention I eat way too fast and have problems unless it is mushy food which doesn't stay with me long, so the one-minute timer is working for me. I found them online and they only cost $1.50 each. I have one at work too so that I eat slower at work too. If you need to know where to buy them, let me know and I'll look it up.

Good luck.

Sue

Eating slowly is sooo hard for me too. Especially if I am delayed by something and don't eat when I should have and get too hungry.

But, a trick I have started using is to tell myself the obvious..."slow down...the food isn't going anywhere until I say so" ...just reminding myself that I'm not a puppy and my owner isn't going to take my bowl away is so silly but it just shows how I think about my food sometimes!

Whosyadaddy: I totally agree with you! I learned from experience that I can't eat fast and after a couple times of either sliming, pb'ing, whatever you would like to call it...it just plain hurts. I don't like to hurt so therefore I've learned to eat slower and listen when I'm full.

All about learning from experience. :)

I agree. Now i feel when ive had enough...its frustrating if something tastes really good...but if you try and push past the pain ...oh boy...TROUBLE!

Littlelove,

It does take time, but this habit does change. I find myself nibbling on my food now and I am self conscious actually around other people when I am eating, wondering if they notice. I have not told many people.

Thanksgiving should be interesting at the in-laws!

It's best to cut meat up into tiny itty bitty pieces before you even start to eat. Take a bite, chew it very very well then wait and see if

you feel it getting stuck. Then take another bite chew very well, etc. If you're getting stuck, stop eating immediately. If you have food in your mouth, spit it out!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
