I don't know anything about Turkey either but I did have my surgery in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and it was the best decision I have ever made. Have you googled the surgeon's name? Any reviews there...? I know that seems pretty simple but many Australians and Brits travel for this type of surgery so there may be some reviews of him/her. I picked my surgeon based on the reviews that I saw of him online because a LOT of Australians used him. My total surgery was, including everything, was $6600. This did not include airfare or hotel but we were going there anyway so it was not an issue for me. I would ask the same thing as SusieQ2019, why Turkey? Are you already traveling there? Do you have family or friends there? That would make a big difference for me.

Hi! I am an American currently living in İstanbul- I had sleeve surgery here about 8 months ago. It went very well and I could have never afforded to do it back home in the US. I can try to answer any other questions you have.

Hi,

Thank you all for your replays really appreciated

I have chosen Turkey because of course is much cheaper than uk and because its a Medical Tourism destination for lot of people , and I have been there many times but never did a medical treatment or surgery .

The hard thing is deciding wich hospital .

I have contacted many , the big hospitals like MEDIPOL , LIV, ABICADEM , their prices are just like uk , and found others cheaper like Erdem hospital wich I am considering at the moment but still not sure , for the reviews I found some in WhatClinic and their Facebook page .

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
