7 month PO going on 2 months stalled

Recommended Posts

Anyone else 7 months July 2018 post op and experiencing a significant stall? I’ve only lost 52lb since surgery. SW 292 CW 240. Nutritionist said to stop snacking although they were healthy Snacks but nothing has changed. Workout 1-3 times a week too. Only eat 3.5-4oz per meal. N I’m starving in between. Pls let me know how u broke your stall. Is it normal at this stage to stall for 2 months going on 3??!!

Hi [emoji112] did you have the sleeve? I will be at a year next month and the same thing has happened to me. Only about 50 lbs lost. I feel like such a failure [emoji21] despite doing everything right. I go back to see my doctor because my nurse said sometimes a revision has to be done when the sleeve is not successful. I lost almost 50 lbs on my own prior to surgery.

Oh wow. No a bypass n the dr. checked my pouch n confirmed it was the right size. I don’t know what’s going on. I feel like a failure too. It’s frustrating. I hope your dr. can help u. Stay strong though.

Shut I haven’t even lost inches. I wish u all the best. There was a lady in my support group that had the sleeve n a revision to the bypass. She was really small. I’m sure things will work out for u.

  • do you know how many calories you're eating? Since it's been two months, you may be in maintenance. I had to switch over to calorie counting when I was about that far out, since by then I could eat more. You may need to cut back a bit to get the weight loss started again.

I I don’t count calories. Maybe I should start. I don’t even know how many I should have daily. I don’t want to be in maintenance already. It seems like everyone else is losing monthly. I’m going to the dietician again next week. Maybe u r right, I’m eating too much.

50 pound weight loss is " NOT A FALIURE!" Its fantastic. Don't compare your weight loss to others. Some of us lose slow and its perfectly fine. You are losing weight and that’s all that matters.

Revision of the sleeve. Let your team diagnose if the procedure was done correctly or if your surgery was stretched by over consumption of food. What many people with the sleeve experience is "grazing ". Eating healthy and unhealthy food over their calories and macros - It is the same as never having surgery. You will gain weight.

Weighing on a food scale and logging my food has been the best tool. It’s the only way I know my calories and if I am hitting 60 to 100 gram Protein goal.

Many free apps out there - I use myfitnesspal others use baritastic.

Ya gotta count calories. Healthy food can still be high calorie, this preventing weightloss. Nuts and avocado are great examples of such foods.
Download the app “Baritastic”. It’s been a game changer for me :)
Goodluck, beautiful.

Update. Stall finally broke after increasing Water n decreasing Protein Shake from 2 to 1 per day. I’m got to 231 but it’s starting again. Today I’m 233. So I know now that I have to watch the foods n keep track n increase the Water. Thks for all the support.
I love a happy ending 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Woo hoo! Fantastic that the scale is moving.

shakes might be contributing to hunger. Real food may help you feel more satiated. Protein Shakes are for the first stages when your restriction is tight. They are not meant to be in our diets long term. They go right through your stomach and leave you feeling hungry.

Logging takes practice. It will help you see what a day of food can look like and still stay with in your macros.

Glad you checked back in. You got this!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
