froufrou 678 Posted March 2, 2019 Well, I'm still in the mush phase of my diet, so I can't really give much of an opinion on that, except to say that I have had to take it very slowly and I've stayed in the mush phase longer than is normally needed due to having some throwing up issues with soft foods. Portions are much smaller than before and I am definitely not as hungry as I was with the sleeve. 1 ProudGrammy reacted to this
Colorchic 13 Posted March 2, 2019 How come sleeve stretched? I’ve been told it won’t?

I had a leak two days after my sleeve and then had multiple surgeries to put a stent in. They believe it stretched out from all of the invasive surgeries... I had 5 after my initial sleeve surgery. I had an upper endoscopy before my RNY and the surgeon said it was so stretched out he was not surprised I was hungry all the time and not losing weight. 1 1 1 ProudGrammy, Frustr8 and BariatricBarb reacted to this

bubbz333 49 Posted March 19, 2019 I have been going through the process for this because of GERD too. I heard from my surgeon today after having a bunch of tests done to figure out just how bad the acid is and what kind of damage it has done. Basically my only 2 options are to stay on Protonix forever or have the bypass surgery. The medication doesn't work all day for me and I don't really want to be on this medicine long term so I'm leaning towards the revision to bypass but it's still scary. I'm waiting for a call for the surgery department to set up a surgery date. To those of you that have already had the revision surgery, how are you recovering? Did you notice a difference with your acid reflux? 1 1 traeleo and clrobinson2014 reacted to this

Did you notice a difference with your acid reflux? Hi bubbz, I had my surgery a week ago. I'm still sore and it's been a bit bumpy at times, but you expect that with surgery. The main thing is, NO REFLUX! I've been taking protonix (which causes bone loss long term) twice a day for over a year. Along with Tums, omeprasol and whatever else I could shove down my throat to stop the burning and nausea. It also seemed like I hadn't slept a full night in years. ALL Gone! I was worried about the surgery too. But as of now, I am so happy. And I can sleep all night! I'm so happy I did this! 3 1 SeattleLady, Mj77803, ProudGrammy and 1 other reacted to this

I was on the fence about the revision surgery until I found out the exact results from the 24 pH test I had to do to test how bad the acid is in my stomach and that really solidified my decision. I guess the normal range is less than 14.92 something and mine was 104.9! I couldn't believe it and it has already done some damage to my esophagus. I also have problems sleeping because of the reflux. I'm so happy that you have relief from all of that. I'm excited to hopefully be rid of this reflux soon. 3 claricey, ProudGrammy and BariatricBarb reacted to this
