Hello I'm new to the site

Recommended Posts

Hello I'm new. I am in the insurance requirement phase of getting approval, half way through the six month steps. Hoping to get a surgery date in late May or early June for the gastric sleeve. I have been reading and trying to educate myself as much as possible about the surgery and life after the surgery. I'm in my late 50's and have had weight issues ALL my life, and of course I now have knee pain and my feet are starting to hurt. I do take thyroid meds. I know I'm lucky to not have other health issues but if something doesn't change there will be. My blood pressure runs just under high and blood sugar is inching up every year. Would like to hear from anyone else that has had this surgery at this age (late 50's)

Hi and welcome aboard! I’m 56 and 4 weeks post op from the sleeve. Isn’t is great that it’s never too late to make a change for the better? I look forward to getting to know you on this journey =)

Hi! I'm almost 54 and having surgery on Monday. I have diabetes, and a whole list of ailments to go along with that. I've been told you will not feel the best afterwards, but will 100% not regret this surgery. I say what do you have to lose? Lol. Good luck!

Welcome to the club!!! There is plenty of us over 50 in the same boat. The only common regret is that we didn't do this soon. Best of luck. Remember to not compare yourself with others only use it as a guideline.

I was 56 when I had my surgery, and I have been hypothyroid since age 45. I lost 100 lbs and have kept it off.

You'll do fine, age is no barrier to success!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
