Mema-to4 3 Posted February 20, 2019 Hello I'm new. I am in the insurance requirement phase of getting approval, half way through the six month steps. Hoping to get a surgery date in late May or early June for the gastric sleeve. I have been reading and trying to educate myself as much as possible about the surgery and life after the surgery. I'm in my late 50's and have had weight issues ALL my life, and of course I now have knee pain and my feet are starting to hurt. I do take thyroid meds. I know I'm lucky to not have other health issues but if something doesn't change there will be. My blood pressure runs just under high and blood sugar is inching up every year. Would like to hear from anyone else that has had this surgery at this age (late 50's) 3 DanaC84, ProudGrammy and Liz The New Me reacted to this

gabybab 696 Posted February 21, 2019 Hi! I'm almost 54 and having surgery on Monday. I have diabetes, and a whole list of ailments to go along with that. I've been told you will not feel the best afterwards, but will 100% not regret this surgery. I say what do you have to lose? Lol. Good luck! 2 Liz The New Me and DanaC84 reacted to this

Liz The New Me 281 Posted February 21, 2019 Welcome to the club!!! There is plenty of us over 50 in the same boat. The only common regret is that we didn't do this soon. Best of luck. Remember to not compare yourself with others only use it as a guideline. 3 DanaC84, Maria my turn and ProudGrammy reacted to this

Foxbins 625 Posted February 23, 2019 I was 56 when I had my surgery, and I have been hypothyroid since age 45. I lost 100 lbs and have kept it off. You'll do fine, age is no barrier to success! 3 DanaC84, ProudGrammy and Maria my turn reacted to this
