Yes we are. The only thing is I still need to be tested for the Pyriah. Not sure if I spelled that right. You know the bacteria in the stomach. I’m hoping mine is negative when I take it next week. Have you tested for it yet?

I was tested positive for pylori. They give me medication. I then had to send in stool and the result came back negative.

The medication was for 14 days and I had to submit the stool around the 5th week. The nurse called me about one week later to tell me that the results came back negative I did not have any of the symptoms.

The good thing with this weightloss surgery experience is the indept medical workup that is being done. I always get my regular checkup but not to this level. You cannot drink any liquor while taking the medication and the nurse told me to take exactly as prescribed.

Wishing you good luck.

I have never heard of that, I have an appointment for March 19th for blood work and for our binder etc to get ready for our pre op diet, but they didn’t say anything about testing for that. I guess I’ll find out that day.

My surgeon said not every doctor test for it but the bariatric center at mount Sinai NYC where I will be having my surgery do. It is part of the endoscopy procedure. He said they do it because they do not want any suprises during the surgery. Apparently it's a very common bacteria. During my procedure they took a piece of specimen and sent it to the lab and mine came back positive for the bacteria.

I did not have to have an endoscopy , they did a X-ray with barium on my stomach

It went ok. I’ve started trying different Protein Drinks. Trying to get an idea of which ones I like, although it seems everyone’s taste change after surgery.

Glad it went well and startng to sample shakes is a good idea. I haven't tried any of the Protein Shakes yet, but my next trip to BJ'S I will pick some up. I only like chocolate flavors. In the meantime I've given up sweets, coffee and Snacks and I eat a lot of yogurts.

coffee is the only thing I haven’t given up yet, i have 3-4 cups a day, and just like my diets I say tomorrow I’ll start cutting down, I really need to start because I know if I don’t have my coffee by 9 I get a headache, so this cutting down should be fun!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
