I was April 3rd as well. Had pain, nausea, but they managed it immediately with meds, very successfully. Was up and about since day 2. 1 week of liquids, 2 weeks of cream Soups, now my first day on puréed. Lost 17 pounds in first 10 days, been stalling since. I take all Vitamins and Protein, Water and walking are harder to manage. Energy is soooo low I hope it will improve with the purees. I have been very emotional and frustrated, I cried and argued with my father, my sis is busy with her kids, so I’m practically alone. Some support from friends would have been nice, like, hey, let’s go for a walk, but they are all busy with their lives...I know I am a crybaby now, but it will pass soon I hope

I was April 3rd too

all going ok for me other than slow wright loss but I can live with that i realise we’re all different it’s a different process for everyone

take it a day at a time and no more

be kind to yourself x

For those who have already gone thru the procedure.. How long were u in pain and

I had RNY on Wednesday. Pain has been manageable. The main issue for my continues to be pain around left ribs which is pretty common I’m told. And getting out of bed is still excruciating. But once I’m up I feel good - hardly any pain walking the halls. Hoping to go home tomorrow. But I have work on getting up without assistance. I’m not going to be able rely on my 85 year old mom to haul my carcass out of bed 😊. All in all things have been really good. So grateful for that!

I was lucky I had hardly any pain at all the bit I did have was managed well

slightly sore at incisions but that was it

I slept on my tummy the day after surgery

I walked lots too

take it a day at a time and you’ll find it gets easier

give yourself time to heal and look after yourself

I was April 3 also. The fatigue has been hard for me too. Take one day at a time and be kind to yourself. This is a whole new journey. I know you can do it!!

What kind of crystal light do you mix with it? What a great idea!!
I like the grape or wild strawberry best, but beware CL has caffeine, so I’ve moved to the generic great value version at Walmart- No caffeine. I think there are also several sf syrups you can add for flavor, but I haven’t tried them yet.

My surgery is 10:00am on Monday. I like the time because I can still take my daughter to school and make her Breakfast before I leave.

Good luck

My favorite Wal-Mart flavor is Wild strawberry followed by Strawberry Kiwi. I think they are a little strong so I mix them in a full bottle of Water, but they do take the BLAH out of plain water.

Update! I had my follow up with the dietitian yesterday afternoon, and she advanced my diet to stage 4, and I also restarted my Vitamins. She thinks a few more calories, which will happen easily as I advance my diet and some more carbs will help. I can already tell the difference today. Still am tired in the afternoon, but it isn't like crashing into a wall! Looking forward to the weekend!

It’s a ‘foamies’ thing.

I’m hoping it passes soon. I’ve now been throwing up each day.

Anyway calling the Dr on Monday.

Thank you for your words.

Foamies is the worst. I’ve gotten it twice so far so it’s foods I won’t try for another couple of weeks. Fully threw up once and the second time was just foam. I’m not concerned since most of my food options go down well. I hope yours gets better soon!

Oh, thank you so much.

I’ve taken a few steps back to almost liquid as I was so worried.

It’s reassuring someone else has experienced it and the plan to come back to those foods.

Thank you so much for commenting xo

Foods that used to go down before surgery now don’t go down.Get stuck and cause pain in esophagus.Thick pieces of breads like bulky rolls. Then the throat is irritated.I am 27 months out from surgery.Throat feels like I stretched something out.Anyone have any suggestions or reasoning to this?

If you had stretched something out, seems like it would slip right down, unless that bread is the only good you have, don't bother with it. You may require mamometry or a endoscopy to find out what's really going on. Lets hope it is nothing more than esophageal spasms!

Just a quick update, I am 19 days out from surgery and yesterday and today are the first days I don’t have any pain. The only pain I was experiencing was under my left rib like a pulling sensation, dr said it was my pouch healing. Tuesday I start regular food, I have been on soft food for this week so no more puréed!! I’ve had shrimp, salmon and ham with a pickle no skin. Omg it tasted awesome lol. I am looking forward to the 9th when I can start exercising. Water has been fine and so has taking the Vitamins. Good luck to anyone who is next in line!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
