Hopefully you can stop soon, so you don't go through withdrawal after the surgery. Also from what I read some doctors asked not to drink coffee.

CajanSam,

I'm scheduled for a sleeve with Dr. Jalil Illan on April 4th, too! And coming from Texas, too! Where are you coming from?

OMG, Marc! How cool. I live in the Austin area but will be flying out of Houston. My family lives in East Texas so I will be bringing my kiddos to hang out with them while I am gone.

My Aunt will be going with me. Where are you coming from? Will you be bringing a companion? We will have to stop and say hello. Are you planning on doing any of the tours?

SusieQ that is what my dr. Said as well no caffeine, now my mother and mother law both had the bypass in 2001 and 2002 and they can both pretty much eat or drink anything, my mother has a problem with ice cream so if she really wants some she will just have a bite. But coffee is fine

Romano how are your moms doing, 2001and 2002 is a long time. I know my sister and her friend had it in the 1990s and they are doing great. coffee is one of those beverages I can live without, but they make a great body scrub. Lol

Lol never tried that, but my mother-in-law has gained back about 30lbs but she doesn’t watch what she eats and she likes wine a lot! My mother has done great there was a time she had gained about 20lbs but she started watching what she was eating and probably lost it within 8 weeks. Surgeon told me I could expect to do what my mother has done, obesity runs in my family, unfortunately my grandmother passed away at 69 from obesity related Diseases so That is one big reason for doing this and my mother has done so well so that helps.

I am sorry to hear about your grandmother. I am sure your mom is a great inspiration for you and many.

Tomorrow I have my my last physiatrist appointment. He recommended physical therapy but I only went to two secessions since I don't think I needed it. Instead I've been going to the gym 3 times a week.

Thank you she passed away in 1999 and that was the push my mom needed. I wish I could exercise, that’s another reason for the surgery my knees and back hurt so bad i haven’t been able to exercise. This will be a great new chapter for all of us!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
