susant 0 Posted November 15, 2007 I had my first fill 4 hours ago and am currently feeling as if I have a knife through the base of my esophagus that come out through my back. I have taken one sip of Water and have been fighting to keep it down for the last hour. When I burp, it is very acidy. IS THIS NORMAL? I am very concered. Dave01 0 Posted November 15, 2007 Susan, I felt just like that too. It gets better in a day or two. I just got my 2nd one and am real tight in the morning, almost till noon.
catzintj 1 Posted November 15, 2007 try to drink a few sips of Water with baking soda to neutralize the acid. the acid can make your esophogus irritated and then swell . the acid causes me to burb and be uncomfortable. the baking soda helps to ease the discomfort. try to drink small sips and stay on liquids for a week after a fill. if i dont do liquids after my fill for at least 4 or 5 days, i get the acid and PBing. good luck. you may be too tight. but i try to give it time to adjust........ i have had to have unfills before. it is a drag but what a relief. hope you feel better soon. Dont get too discouraged if you dont feel any or much resriction. I got 6cc is a large band and had none at all. I actuallly wondered if my band was in place. At fill number 2, which was Monday, I really got some, so it is there
arkie 0 Posted November 16, 2007 I had my first fill yesterday. I didn't ask how much was put in. Dr. Hekier told me I would probally not feel restriction until at least 1 more fill. I haven't lost anymore weight BUT I didn't gain any back. Still at 20 pounds down. YES.... I also had an untra sound done on my gall bladder yesterday. I have been having pains for about 2 weeks, had gall bladder attack 2 years ago and it isn't a good feeling. Hope to get it removed before next fill. I am on soft foods again today. Dr. Hekier said they like us to have liquids only the day of the fill and then soft foods the next day then regular foods. I started recording my foods in my target tracker book. So far today I have had 180 calories. I try to have a hot drink for Breakfast.< /p>
susant 0 Posted November 16, 2007 Well, I ended up going back to the doctors office at 9:30 PM (same day as first fill). Turns out, my initially fill of 4cc was so tight that Water couldn't even pass. Long story short and 2cc removed, I feel great now. What an experience with my first fill! chubster808 0 Posted November 19, 2007 Doesnt sound normal to me at all Susan. I would see your doctor ASAP. Bands that are too tight can lead to slippage. Better safe than sorry.
