49Nash 103 Posted February 20, 2019 Stephanie, I had to google the DS, I wonder why it’s not talked about much? Why did you choose that surgery? Looks like a good combo of the sleeve and bypass with the intestines.
49Nash 103 Posted February 20, 2019 I started working on not drinking with or within 30 minutes of my meals yesterday and it’s way harder than I thought it would be! For some reason as soon as my timer goes off saying it’s time to stop drinking I’m super thirsty. I am also doing a major purge of my house. I think it’s all this nervous energy I have combined with the fact my job put me on furlough recently. I know this is horrible but I also worry something catastrophic will happen during surgery and I want to leave my house in order. That’s my biggest fear of this surgery really. I have kids and a husband and it stresses me out.

I’ve also done a lot of research and it’s the surgery that has the highest long term success rate. I agree that it is a good combo of the sleeve and bypass. 49Nash 103 Posted February 20, 2019 I’m all for long term success!! My BMI is just under 50, they claim I am 5’3 but I’m sticking with my 5’5” I’ve said my whole life. I’m 262 right now.
DavidP 6 Posted February 20, 2019 I am also having surgery on March 27th. I go in for the preop appt on the 12th and start the liquid diet on the 13th. Not really looking forward to that but it will be ok. I'm just going to embrace the suckiness of it. I'm not nervous, yet, but I imagine some nervousness will set in once the day comes closer. I am so ready to get this done and start feeling better and getting off all the meds I am taking.
Briswife15 890 Posted February 20, 2019 Hi, DavidP, my preop physical is the 13th of March, but I don't have to start the diet until one week before the surgery. I'm relieved. I'm sure we'll all do fine, although I am a little nervous.

Mama J 4 Posted March 8, 2019 I know there are a few other March 27th surgeries and I would love to get to know you guys. I feel disconnected from anyone and there are a few different march threads I can’t tell which one will stick so I decided to start one for the 27th people. My name isTracy, I live in Nashville and my next appointment for preop is March 5th. I’m excited and nervous at the same time and I will believe all of this really happened when I wake up from anesthesia and they told me my bypass is complete. I am married with 2 kids. My surgery date is March 26th. I had my pre-op on March 6. Everything is in order and I'm as ready as I'm going to be. I'm nervous but it's more excited than scared. I'm having the sleeve surgery. I live in Vermont. I have 2 adult children and 1 grandchild. I am very fortunate to have a supportive husband, children and 3 sisters. I think they're as excited as I am. My husband is nervous about the surgery but he is still supportive. Sent from my SM-G950U using BariatricPal mobile app 1 Emma2.0 reacted to this
Emma2.0 38 Posted March 8, 2019 Hey everyone! I just got my gastric bypass surgery date for March 25th. I have my preop appt March 19th, so I will go ahead and start the liquid diet then. I live Dallas Texas, 31 single mom with an amazing 9 year old daughter. I can’t wait to lose this weight that has been holding me back from so many things in life. I think the thing I look forward to the most is playing with my daughter and jumping on the trampoline. My beginning stats are 5’5 and 295-297. I wish y’all the very best and I can’t wait to see how far we all come. We are about to embark on the best journey of our lives.
Jezzabelle360 84 Posted March 9, 2019 Hi! My name is Jezzabelle! I'm 39. I live in MN. My date is March 14th. It's coming up fast and I also am feeling out of touch and am looking for a twin but don't seem to have one. I'm a singer and mother of a 19 year old college student and a 3.5 year old. I'm having the gastric bypass. My starting stats were 5'5 and 299lbs. I'm doing the liquid diet right now and I don't really think it's too bad to be honest. I'm down to 283 since starting on liquids. I was/am excited but 2 people today decided they needed to tell me surgery horror stories because people are thoughtless sometimes but forward I roll. Good luck to everyone. I'm really hoping to make some connections!Sent from my LG-Q710AL using BariatricPal mobile app

From what I understand from friends who have had gastric bypass, the first few weeks post op are hard and you may feel like you wish you didn't have the surgery. But those feelings pass as you feel better and see the progress. Then you're glad you did it and you feel more confident and motivated. I'm sure you're going to do great! 1 Jezzabelle360 reacted to this
