1/30/19 Bypass - Painful stomach indention

Recommended Posts

Howdy, I had bypass on 1/30/19 and was sent home the very next day. I immediately thought it was odd that I now have a large indention on the right side of my stomach with an incision in it. When I lie down the dent goes away. It’s extremely painful and gets warm to the touch. I’m almost 3 weeks post op and the indention and pain hasn’t subsided at all. I called/emailed/ and visited my dr and he said he may have hit a nerve while closing up or closed it too tightly and to give it time. I’m on round the clock liquid Tylenol and nerve blockers and am discouraged and frustrated by the lack of improvement.
I extended my leave from work because It’s too painful to sit on the drive work let alone sit at a desk 8 hours and am worried about pushing it back any further.
Has anyone else experienced something like this? If so, how long did your pain last and do you have any tips?

Sharp stabbing pains and skin so sore. Im feeling sick all the time and struggling with everything. Drink food and the awful pills. Google just keeps saying a leak orIntussusception. Any advice or experiences would be great x

Lee I can definitely relate except none of mine wrapped. Yesterday I was feeling a little better and went to Walmart, which resulted in being later out all day. My skin is red and stings and it feels like the internal sutures are tearing me up. Ouch! I sure hope whatever is going on clears up quickly for both of us!! I haven’t found information online about this type of experience and while I’m sorry you’re going through this, it’s a bit reassuring to know I’m not alone.

Bless you. I went to see the nurse and she didnt seem overly concerned as mine isnt red or hot to touch. If yours is tben it could be a sign of infection. So get it checked hun.

Mines all inside and now ive a cough which is killing it. Burns like a hot knife inside.

Gets worse when i go out

I know what you mean its nice to talk to others that are in a simular boat xx

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
